To qualify, you need strong academic credentials and exceptional leadership abilities. This is only available to first-time bachelor’s students who have been nominated by their respective high school counselors and can apply after the nomination has been approved.

Scholarship award is four years of full tuition fees.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships 

This scholarship is granted to the best Ph.D students from around the world and is funded by the Canadian government. The Institute of Health, Natural Science, Engineering Research Council, Social Science and Humanities Research Council receives slots accordingly. 

This scholarship is awarded to 166 awardees nominated by these respective institutions. The criteria for judgment is based on academic excellence, leadership and research potential. Quotas are determined by the university, and the university of Toronto, British Columbia and McGill receives the most. 

Scholarship award is CAD 50,000 ($39,930) per year.

Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship 

Pierre Elliott Trudeau Scholarship was named after the former prime minister of Canada and it aims to fund the education of 16 Ph.D students specializing in the foundations four themes; Human Rights & Dignity, People & Natural Environment, Responsible citizenship, or Canada & the world.

The scholar must already be attending a Canadian doctoral program in order to be eligible. Criteria include; Academic performance, commitment, leadership, engagement, agility and resilience. Scholars must also take part in any foundation activities to improve their chances.

Scholarship award is CAD 20,000 ($15,970), allowance for research, travel, networking and even learning a new language.

University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship 

The university of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship is for masters and Ph.D students in the university of Manitoba. To qualify for this, the scholar must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be eligible for the scholarship, and recommendation of their respective departments.

The monetary value of this scholarship may vary, depending on the degree of assistance, with a maximum of five years assistance. Due to this, a Masters student who received this funding for 2 years can also use it for 3 years of Ph.D.

Scholarship award is CAD 14,000 ($11,180) per year for masters students and CAD 18,000 ($14,375) per year for Ph.D students.

University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship

This scholarship is for bachelor’s degree students who excelled academically. It is awarded to two deserving students of the year. To qualify, scholars must meet the university’s English proficiency requirement. 

Also, the award lasts till the fourth year depending on the CGPA which must be 2.60 or higher every term. Scholarship award is CAD 15,000 ($11,980) per year.

Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award Scholarship

This is a merit based scholarship, open to candidates who have completed their first degree and come from University of British Columbia recognised secondary school. However, those who have also spent a year at a secondary college or university are qualified.

There is a high chance of students benefiting from this if they portray leadership in community service and student affairs. Other requirements are A-levels result and proof of financial need. 

The scholarship award is determined by the the financial need of the beneficiary.
